Priyanka Chopra Jonas addressed persistent scrutiny of her marriage to Nick Jonas, stating she has “stopped thinking about it” as speculation about their relationship continues. The actress, currently promoting her novel film The Bluff, spoke with Variety about the public’s fascination with their relationship, which began in 2018.
Chopra Jonas acknowledged the initial reaction to their pairing, attributing some of the criticism to the couple’s differing backgrounds. “I don’t know what was it about us that rubbed people the wrong way,” she said. “I think there was the intercultural nature of it — different countries, different religions, age gap. It was very hurtful.” She and Jonas married in a traditional Christian ceremony in Rajasthan, India, in December 2018, when she was 36 and he was 26, according to the Hindustan Times.
Despite the initial judgment, Chopra Jonas emphasized that she and Jonas have remained focused on each other. “And we both, instead of looking out, just sort of looked at each other, and we were like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ So it’s like water off a duck’s back now.” She described Jonas as possessing a rare sincerity, a quality she deeply values. “We got married really quick, within six months of meeting. When I first married him, I didn’t know if it was even real. This part of him. Because I was like, ‘This is crazy. This is put on.’ But Nick has this absolute sincerity.”
Chopra Jonas noted that Jonas’ upbringing contributed to his genuine nature. “He started working when he was really young. His parents are the most wonderful, levelheaded, absolute saints, so I can see where it comes from.” She added that his sincerity has influenced her own approach to life and her career. “He doesn’t feel the need to deviate from that sincerity for anything or anyone. He is himself and comfortable in it, and I really learned how to be a lot more comfortable in my awkwardness and my insecurities since I got married to him.”
The couple recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on December 1, 2025, with Jonas sharing a post on social media marking the occasion, as reported by People magazine. Chopra Jonas’ latest film, The Bluff, is available on Amazon Prime as of February 25, and she is also slated to appear in a film from the writer and director of RRR, scheduled for release in April 2027.
