Princess Stéphanie of monaco Leads AIDS Remembrance, Launches New Testing Center
MONACO – Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and her daughter, Camille Gottlieb, publicly commemorated World AIDS Day on December 1st, participating in a memorial event and concurrently bolstering preventative measures with the opening of a new rapid HIV testing center. The event underscored the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS and the royal family’s continued commitment to raising awareness and providing support.
The commemoration featured displays bearing the names and drawings of those lost to the disease, with a minute’s silence observed as their names were read aloud. simultaneously, Princess Stéphanie inaugurated a new screening center operated by “Fight Aids Monaco,” offering free, anonymous rapid HIV tests to the public. This dual approach – remembrance and proactive prevention - highlights the organization’s thorough strategy in combating the epidemic.
Speaking with Monaco Morning, Princess Stéphanie expressed concern over waning public attention to the disease.”It is an element that has become fully commonplace. People no longer feel worried. And there are fewer and fewer associations that offer prevention, information and help for people with HIV,” she stated, emphasizing the critical role of organizations like “Fight Aids Monaco.” Despite notable medical advancements, she noted a gap in public knowledge regarding current treatment options.
“We have the solution to eradicate the epidemic, but everyone has to do their part,” Princess Stéphanie urged, stressing the importance of regular testing and individual duty. The new testing center aims to address this need by providing accessible and confidential services, furthering the Princess’s long-standing dedication to fighting the disease.
