Princess Anne Conducts Surprise Visit to Ukraine, Demonstrates Royal Support
KYIV, UKRAINE – Princess Anne made an unannounced visit to Ukraine today, demonstrating continued royal support for the nation as it defends against Russian aggression. The Princess Royal met with Ukrainian war veterans and visited a rehabilitation center, offering a personal tribute to those impacted by the ongoing conflict.
The visit underscores the United Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to Ukraine and follows similar displays of solidarity from other members of the Royal Family. More than 19,500 Ukrainian children have been forcibly transferred or deported by russian authorities to Russia and occupied territories, according to reports.Princess Anne is the second working royal to visit Ukraine, following the Duchess of Edinburgh’s trip in April of last year, during which she delivered a letter of support from the king.
During her visit, Princess Anne met Ukrainian war veterans receiving treatment in a salt therapy room at a rehabilitation centre. The Princess’s trip also echoes that of Prince harry, who made a surprise visit to Kyiv just over two weeks ago with his Invictus Games Foundation.
The King has previously met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on multiple occasions and expressed solidarity with Ukraine on its independence day in August. During a recent state visit by former U.S. President Donald Trump,King Charles emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine, stating in a banquet speech: “Today,as tyranny once again threatens Europe,we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine,to deter aggression and secure peace.”
