Prince Andrew: Family Paid $12M Settlement & Funded His Lifestyle
Prince Andrew has moved from the Royal Lodge, a 30-room estate on 40 hectares of land, following a directive from King Charles III, according to reports. The move, finalized on February 2nd, 2026, stems from Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the ensuing scandal.
The decision to relocate Andrew comes after he was stripped of his royal titles. He has been offered a more modest villa at Sandringham, provided by his brother, King Charles, utilizing the King’s personal assets. This arrangement follows a costly legal settlement related to allegations made by Virginia Giuffre.
In 2021, Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit in the United States alleging sexual assault by Prince Andrew, claiming the incidents occurred when she was 17 years traditional. The case was settled out of court for a reported $12 million. According to reports in The Sun, Queen Elizabeth II contributed $7 million to the settlement, with a further $3 million coming from the estate of Prince Philip, and $1.5 million from King Charles III’s private funds. Other members of the royal family reportedly as well contributed to the settlement.
Sources close to the royal family, as reported by The Sun, allege that Andrew misled his family regarding the nature of his relationship with Epstein. “Andrew lied to his own family about the nature of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. They believed his lies and helped him to make the problem disappear,” the source stated. The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly deeply distressed by the scandal but unwilling to sever ties with her son.
Despite the financial support from the royal family, reports indicate that Andrew has not yet fully settled the financial obligations related to the settlement. The use of funds from the late Prince Philip’s estate has drawn particular attention, as it is noted that the Duke of Edinburgh could not have foreseen his finances being used to settle such a case.
Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s former wife, has maintained a close relationship with Andrew despite the scandal. Ferguson had previously served as a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust until 2025 and founded charities Children in Crisis and Sarah’s Trust. She and Andrew share two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the details of the financial arrangements surrounding the settlement with Virginia Giuffre, nor on the specifics of Prince Andrew’s current financial situation.
