President Murmu Visits Uttar Pradesh: Ayodhya, Mathura & Cancer Care
President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday concluded a three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh with prayers at the Danghati Temple in Goverdhan, Mathura district, and a traditional Govardhan Parikrama. The visit, which began on Thursday, underscored the President’s engagement with religious sites across the state.
Prior to her visit to Mathura, President Murmu offered prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, a site of significant religious importance following the recent construction of the Ram Temple. According to DD News, the President also installed a ‘Ram Yantra’ at the temple during her visit. She subsequently visited the Iskcon temple and Prem Mandir in Vrindavan, further emphasizing the spiritual dimension of her trip.
The President’s visit also included the inauguration of a new Oncology Block at the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram. The new facility is intended to bolster cancer care infrastructure in the region, addressing a critical healthcare demand.
During her time in Ayodhya, President Murmu described touching the sacred dust of the city as a “supreme privilege,” as reported by The Hindu. This statement highlights the personal significance of the visit for the President, who has spoken of her deep connection to India’s spiritual heritage.
Devdiscourse reported that the visit was a “spiritual sojourn” for the President, encompassing a range of religious and cultural experiences. The President returned to Delhi following the completion of the Govardhan Parikrama, bringing an end to her Uttar Pradesh engagement.
