President Marcos Calls for Unity and Compassion During Holy Week

April 4, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Called for national unity and the prioritization of collective well-being over individual interest during his Easter Sunday address.

In the message released to the public, the President urged Filipinos to choose generosity and unity over self-interest and division. The call for cohesion was framed as a central theme of the holiday, emphasizing a shift toward communal support and social harmony.

The Easter message followed a series of reflections shared by the President during the Holy Week period. On Decent Friday, Marcos issued a statement calling for “faith, humility and compassion,” noting that the day of the crucifixion serves as a reminder of a love that embraced suffering for the sake of others.

International Monitoring and Middle East Crisis

Although observing the religious holiday, the administration maintained its focus on volatile international developments. The Malacañang Palace confirmed that President Marcos remained attentive to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East throughout the Holy Week period.

The administration’s continued monitoring of the region occurs as the Philippines manages the safety and welfare of its overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stationed in the Middle East, where geopolitical instability continues to pose risks to the migrant population.

The President’s calls for compassion and unity coincided with these diplomatic efforts, as the government continues to track the security situation in the conflict-affected areas of the Middle East.
