Premium Vinyl Reissue Coming for Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell

October 6, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Billy Idol’s 1983 album Rebel Yell is receiving a limited, premium all-analog vinyl reissue slated for release on November 20 through Interscope-Capitol, featuring audio mastered directly from the original tapes.

Mastering Details and Tracklist for the One-Step Edition

The upcoming release utilizes an 180-gram One-Step pressing process, with production limited to 3,000 numbered copies housed in a gatefold jacket and slipcase. Each record includes a certificate of authenticity detailing the mastering, plating, and pressing chain. Chris Bellman handled the mastering from the original analog tapes at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Pre-orders for the edition are currently open ahead of its late November launch. The original tracklist features “Rebel Yell,” “Daytime Drama,” “Eyes Without a Face,” and “Blue Highway” on Side A, while Side B comprises “Flesh for Fantasy,” “Catch My Fall,” “Crank Call,” “(Do Not) Stand in the Shadows,” and “The Dead Next Door.”

Commercial History and Legacy of the 1983 Release

Originally released on November 10, 1983, Rebel Yell served as Billy Idol’s second solo album, transforming the former Generation X frontman into a star. The record was produced by Keith Forsey and featured guitar work from Steve Stevens, ultimately climbing to No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and earning a double-platinum certification in the United States. Singles from the album achieved widespread commercial success. “Eyes Without a Face” peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 to become Idol’s first U.S. Top 10 single, while the title track and “Flesh for Fantasy” established a heavy presence on radio and MTV. Meanwhile, collectors searching for alternative pressings can examine archival items such as the 1985 UK 12-inch maxi-single of “Rebel Yell” issued via Chrysalis under catalogue number IDOLX6, which featured an extended version alongside live recordings of “(Do Not) Stand In The Shadows” and “Blue Highway,” as detailed by eil.com.
