Lusya Faces Federal Gambling Probe

Federal prosecutors are investigating NBA player Lusya for alleged involvement in gambling during a 2023 regular season game. The probe centers on the March 23, 2023, matchup between the Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans. lusya, then a member of the Hornets, is suspected of placing 30 bets through associates with several betting companies prior to the game. these bets reportedly yielded profits and drew the attention of law enforcement. While the NBA conducted its own inquiry in 2023 and found no league violations or imposed penalties on Lusya, the federal investigation marks the third instance of an NBA player being scrutinized by U.S. federal prosecutors for gambling-related activities in two years. Lusya, who was not listed on the Hornets’ injury report for the game, played approximately 10 minutes, contributing 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. He currently plays for the Miami Heat.
