Predators Face Senators in Ottawa Following Weekend Games
OTTAWA, ON – October 13 – Teh Nashville Predators travel to Canadian Tire Center today to face the Ottawa Senators, following a weekend split and a day off the ice. Nashville did not hold a practice session on Sunday prior to thier flight to the Canadian capital.
The Predators come into the contest after a 2-1 start to the season. Filip Forsberg and Haula each scored on Saturday night, while 18-year-old Brady Martin recorded his first NHL point – an assist on Forsberg’s goal – in his second professional game. Luke Evangelista, making his season debut, assisted on Haula’s goal, and Juuse Saros made 20 saves in net. Forsberg and Haula currently lead the team wiht two points apiece (one goal, one assist), while Ryan O’Reilly and Michael Bunting have also scored. Roman Josi and Jonathan Marchessault each have an assist. Saros has started both games for Nashville and boasts a .935 save percentage.
Ottawa began their season with a 5-4 win over Tampa Bay last Thursday, but fell to Florida 6-2 on Saturday. Shane Pinto has quickly emerged as an offensive threat for the Senators, with four goals and five points in two games. Artem Zub, Claude Giroux, and Dylan Cozens have also tallied goals, and Brady Tkachuk has three assists. Linus Ullmark has started both games in net for Ottawa, posting an .808 save percentage.
Historically, the Predators hold a 19-13-5 record against the Senators, including an 8-7-4 mark in Ottawa. However, the senators won the regular-season series in 2024-25 (0-2-0) for the first time since 2011-12, after a 13-5-5 run by Nashville.
Several Predators players have a strong track record against Ottawa. Steven Stamkos has 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists) in 53 career games against the Senators, including a six-game point streak from December 16, 2021, to November 4, 2023. Jonathan Marchessault has 21 points (12 goals, 9 assists) in 20 career games, with 12 goals tying for his third-moast against any single franchise.Roman Josi has 24 points (8 goals, 16 assists) in 23 career meetings, and previously recorded a five-game point streak against Ottawa from February 8, 2018, to January 19, 2019. Several Predators are approaching career milestones: Ryan O’Reilly is three power play goals from 100, Tyson Jost is three games from 500, Michael bunting is four goals from 100, and Steven Stamkos is five power play goals from passing Dino Ciccarelli for 10th all-time in NHL history.
