Pragma Advogados has strengthened its legal team with the addition of Miguel Pereira Coutinho as a partner. Coutinho will lead the firm’s practice groups focused on criminal law, regulatory offenses, corporate compliance, and internal investigations.Pereira Coutinho joins Pragma from MFA Legal, where he served as Senior Counsel and spearheaded the firm’s compliance and internal investigations efforts. He brings with him over 20 years of experience, including a distinguished two-decade tenure at Cuatrecasas.
A seasoned legal professional, Pereira Coutinho offers extensive expertise in defending corporations, financial institutions, and individuals in criminal proceedings. Pragma highlights his proven ability to navigate complex litigation, conduct thorough internal investigations, and advise on preventative measures against economic and financial crime as a key benefit to the firm.

Pereira Coutinho’s litigation experience includes prominent roles in high-profile cases such as the “Cardinal Case,” “Operation Labyrinth,” the BPP case, and the examination surrounding the Alcochete training ground incident. He also possesses notable experience in regulatory disputes, having represented clients before key Portuguese authorities including the Competition Authority, the Bank of Portugal, CMVM, ASAE, ANAC, and ANACOM.
