Portugal Election: André Ventura’s Far‑Right Party Leads First Round, Second Round Uncertain

Portuguese voters head to the polls on Sunday for the first round of a presidential election were the far-right, the leading opposition force in the Iberian country, may reach a new milestone by placing its candidate in the second round. Polling stations open at 08H00 (local and GMT) and projections will be known at 20H00.

According to polls, André Ventura, president of the far-right party Chega (“Enough”), could come first in this election, but the 43-year-old deputy would have little chance of winning in the second round, scheduled for february 8.
