Porsche Macan: 1 Million Units Sold – Record for Electric SUV

Porsche has celebrated a significant milestone with the production of its one millionth Macan at its Leipzig plant. This achievement marks a decade-plus journey for the German manufacturer’s entry into the premium SUV segment, a move that followed the considerable success of its larger sibling, the Cayenne, which is credited with helping to steer Porsche away from financial difficulties.

The Macan, now also Porsche’s most affordable electric vehicle with a starting price of €82,310 (compared to the €111,351 for a Porsche Taycan), has reached this notable production figure.

The millionth vehicle produced is a Macan 4, featuring 408 hp and an electric range of 613 km. This particular unit is finished in Frozen Blue.

This sales record is a testament to the SUV’s consistent popularity. In 2024, 82,795 units of the Macan were delivered globally. During the first half of 2025, a period that saw a 10% increase in Porsche’s overall sales compared to the same timeframe in 2024, the Macan emerged as Porsche’s top-selling model. This surge is attributed to a 15% rise in sales for the new model.

Over the first six months of 2025,Porsche sold 45,137 units of its popular SUV. Notably, the all-electric version accounted for 57% of these total sales. Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH, commented on the Macan’s significance, stating, “This model represents growth and change like no other: this SUV has been key […] in its first steps into the era of electric mobility.”

The Macan, which transitioned to being fully electric in late 2024, is available in four variants, offering power outputs ranging from 360 to 639 hp and approved electric ranges between 592 and 643 kilometers.

The millionth vehicle, the Macan 4, is the entry-level variant equipped with a dual-motor setup, all-wheel drive, and 408 hp.It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h. This specific unit, painted in Frozen Blue,is equipped with a 100 kWh battery, providing an estimated range of 613 km.

A key technological feature of this all-electric SUV is its 800-volt architecture, which enables rapid charging. When connected to a DC fast charger,it can replenish its battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes, with a charging capacity of up to 270 kW.
