Porsche Cayenne Electrifies Goodwood, Hints at Future

All-Electric Prototype Steals the Show

The highly anticipated Goodwood Festival of Speed saw Porsche unveil a groundbreaking all-electric prototype of its luxury SUV, the Cayenne Electric, setting new benchmarks for performance and versatility.

Unveiling the Electric Powerhouse

Porsche used the prestigious event in southern Britain to showcase its vision for the future of high-performance SUVs. Alongside classic and special edition models, the masked Cayenne Electric prototype demonstrated remarkable dynamics, signaling a significant step towards electrification for the brand.

The Porsche Cayenne Electric prototype made a striking appearance at Goodwood.

This appearance follows a recent record-breaking run by the Cayenne Electric at the Shelsley Walsh hill climb. Piloted by **Gabriela Jilkova**, simulator and development driver for the Tag Heuer Porsche Formula E team, the electric SUV conquered the 914-meter track in a blistering 31.28 seconds, smashing the previous SUV record by over four seconds. The prototype featured Porsche’s innovative Active Ride suspension system, engineered to eliminate body roll during aggressive maneuvers, ensuring maximum grip and driver comfort.

Initial performance figures are highly encouraging, with the prototype achieving an acceleration of 0-100 km/h (approximate, based on 18.3 meters in 1.94 seconds) that points to the production model’s potent capabilities.

Introducing the Cayenne Black Edition

Adding to the excitement, Porsche also debuted the new Cayenne Black Edition, a special series model embodying a blend of sportiness and refined elegance. Available in both traditional SUV and Coupe body styles, it offers a choice of three distinct powertrains.

The Black Edition features striking gloss-black exterior accents, including Sport Design elements on the front bumper, side mirrors, and 21-inch wheels adorned with the Porsche crest. Inside, matte black aluminum trim complements a comprehensive standard equipment list. This includes tinted HD matrix LED headlights, a premium Bose sound system, 14-way electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory, and the distinctive 21-inch wheels. Further personalization is available through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Off-Road Prowess Demonstrated

Festival attendees also had the opportunity to experience the Cayenne’s renowned off-road capabilities firsthand. Excursions through the scenic farmland and hilly terrain of South Downs showcased the model’s enduring all-terrain competence, a hallmark since its 2002 debut. With its adaptive suspension, standard all-wheel drive, selectable off-road modes, and generous ground clearance, the Cayenne continues to prove its versatility both on and off paved roads.

Munich Awaits the Production Model

The Cayenne Electric is on track for series production, with its next major public unveiling slated for the IAA Mobility Auto Show in Munich in September 2025. Porsche intends to provide a closer look at the vehicle and reveal new technologies focused on future electric mobility.
