Poncho de Nigris on Ring Royale: Winners, Suspended Fight & Canelo’s Friend Not Invited
Poncho de Nigris, husband of Marcela Mistral, has stated that influencer Paulo Chavira was not invited to participate in the upcoming Ring Royale 2 event, according to a report by El Sol de México.
This announcement comes after a series of recent financial setbacks for Chavira involving boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez. In February 2026, Chavira lost money after wagering on a volado, or coin flip, with Álvarez, as reported by MARCA. The influencer reportedly lost almost 2 million pesos in the bet.
Prior to that, in September 2025, Chavira lost $100,000 – approximately two million pesos – betting on Álvarez to defeat Terence Crawford in Las Vegas, according to am.com.mx. Álvarez lost the fight by unanimous decision, costing Chavira the wager. Following the loss, Chavira attempted to donate 4,000 pesos to a dog shelter but was reportedly scammed, according to the same report.
Arturo Elías Ayub reportedly assisted Chavira in Las Vegas and suggested he donate the money he would have wagered to a food bank instead, am.com.mx reported.
The winners of the 2026 Ring Royale event included a suspended boxing match between Chuy Almada and Alberto del Río, with Del Río abandoning the fight, according to El Sol de México.
