As August 2026 arrives, the mobile phenomenon Pokémon Go enters the final month of its Forever Forward season by rolling out raid bosses, regional legendary rotations, and combat debuts including Gigantamax Rillaboom and Mega Starmie, according to the game’s official seasonal schedule.
August Raid Rotations and Max Battle Schedules
According to Niantic’s event schedule, the raid calendar shifts dramatically on August 5 as Kyurem departs and makes way for the legendary lake trio. Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf will appear in five-star raids exclusively across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Middle East, Africa, India, and the Americas respectively, before handing off the rotation to Groudon, Lunala, and the Regi trio later in the month. Mega Raids will rotate through the Mega-Evolved forms of Aggron, Blaziken, Garchomp, Swampert, and Gyarados, while Shadow Altered Forme Giratina anchors the Shadow Raid schedule throughout the month.
Max Battles also introduce dynamic gameplay loops for players collecting Max Particles. Dynamax Magmar leads the rollout from August 3 to August 9, followed sequentially by Dynamax Beldum, Dynamax Magikarp, Dynamax Hitmontop, and Dynamax Eevee closing out the month through September 6.
Summer Festivities, Hatch Days, and Community Weekends
The month kicks off aggressively with a Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day on August 1, featuring six-star battles at Power Spots, an increased Max Particle collection limit of 1,600, and eight times the usual particle yield from Power Spots. Following this, the Arctic Embers event runs from August 4 to August 10, featuring fire- and ice-type wild spawns alongside 5 km egg hatches featuring Sizzlipede and Galarian Darumaka.
Additional themed gatherings dot the mid-month calendar. A Fire and Ice Hatch Day arrives on August 8, boosting Smoochum and Magby hatches from 2 km eggs alongside Larvesta from 5 km eggs. Later, the August 16 Community Day puts the spotlight on the dark-type fox Pokémon Nickit, granting players increased shiny encounter rates and teaching Thievul the exclusive ice-type Charged Attack Icy Wind upon evolution before 9 PM local time.
Ultra Unlock Events and Global Championships
Closing out the month, two major Ultra Unlock initiatives take center stage. The Water Festival runs from August 18 to August 24, introducing Arrokuda via Field Research and Cramorant via egg hatches, complete with rotating daily bonuses that scale up catch XP and Stardust rewards toward the final days of the festival. Immediately following, the Ultra Unlock: Starmie Super Mega Raid Day on August 22 marks the debut of Mega Starmie, granting players bonus raid XP and guaranteed Mega Level 1 unlocks upon capture.
The seasonal arc culminates with a special tie-in event celebrating the 2026 Pokémon World Championships from August 25 to August 30.
