Local Expo-Sale Aims to boost Cancer Support in Finistère

Plougonvelin, Finistère – August 15, 2024 – An ongoing Expo-Sale in Plougonvelin is raising funds for the League against Cancer of Finistère, offering a range of items priced from 20 to 600 €. The event, held at the hippocampus hall on boulevard de la Mer, seeks to contribute to the League’s vital support services for cancer patients and their families.

Over €400,000 Raised Since 2009

Since 2009, the local association “La Côte” has distributed over €400,000 to the League against Cancer of Finistère. This year, all proceeds from the expo-Sale, alongside all profits generated by “la Côte” association, will be donated, with a total fundraising objective of €30,000. Gérard Bergot, president of “La Côte”, emphasized the importance of accessibility to care, stating, “We are not all equal before the disease and financing this care, which is paid for the patients, seemed to me an essential approach. This is why it is essential to receive as many people as possible.”

Professor Michel Robaszkiewicz, president of the League against Cancer of Finistère and former head of the hepato-gastroenterology service at the Centre Hospitalier universitaire (CHU) de La Cavale-Blanche in Brest, highlighted the League’s reliance on public generosity. “The League, which does not perceive any state subsidy, offers SOS throughout the department. This can only be done thanks to the generosity of the public and the actions carried out by the associations, such as La Côte,” he explained.

Pierre Lannuzel presents a model of a Breton village, featuring Pointe Saint-Mathieu and Conquet, at the Expo-Sale. The model has been in development for twenty-five years.
