Two airlifted to Hospital After Plane Crash in Oxford
A small jet crashed Thursday afternoon at the University-Oxford Airport after attempting takeoff, according to reports from the Oxford Eagle. The incident occurred just before 1:15 p.m.
Two individuals aboard the aircraft were airlifted to Regional one Hospital in Memphis for treatment,the Ole Miss communications department confirmed. Hospital Wing of Oxford, an air medical services provider, responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m. adn arrived at the Memphis hospital shortly before 2 p.m. The condition of those injured is currently unknown.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Governance (FAA) will investigate the cause of the crash. The University-Oxford Airport has suspended operations for the remainder of the day.
