Pitt vs. Boston College: Scoreboard & Game Recap

Pittsburgh, PA – A back-and-forth offensive contest saw the University of Pittsburgh Panthers defeat the Boston College Eagles 12-9 on Sunday afternoon at Petersen Sports Complex. The Eagles recorded 10 hits in the game, but ultimately fell short against a potent Pitt lineup.

Boston College started strong in the second inning, scoring three runs highlighted by a leadoff single from Katelyn Deguire and an RBI double from Tavye Borders. Kae DePerio contributed to the rally, reaching base and subsequently stealing second, allowing Borders to score. However, Pittsburgh quickly responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, regaining the lead.

The Eagles continued to battle, tying the game at 4-4 in the third inning with a solo home run by Abby Ptak. Borders added another run for Boston College with a sacrifice fly, scoring Janis Espinoza. The offensive output continued into the fourth, where four hits from Sammy Horn, Ptak, Espinoza, and Deguire resulted in three more runs for the Eagles.

Pittsburgh answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking a 9-8 lead. The scoring continued in the sixth inning, with Emma Knight, Ptak, and Adrina Martinez each singling to combine for a run. Despite the efforts, Pitt ultimately extended their lead with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth, securing the 12-9 victory.

Key offensive performances for Boston College included Ptak’s home run and Borders’ multiple hits and RBI. For Pittsburgh, Murphy,Camryn homered in the fifth inning and Henne,Calle doubled in the seventh.

Kyra Pittman earned the win for Pittsburgh, whereas Bailey Kendziorski took the loss for Boston College. The Eagles fall to 10-20 overall and 2-4 in ACC play, while the Panthers improve to 17-12 and 4-5 in conference action.

The teams combined for a total of 23 hits in the game. Esparza,KK homered to deep left field in the ninth inning for Pitt.
