Piotr Gulczyński works in a hair salon and recalls Big Brother
Twenty-five years after capturing national attention in Poland’s inaugural reality television phenomenon, Piotr Gulczyński—widely known as “Gulczas”—now works alongside his wife in a hair salon, televisiontelewizja.jastrzabpost.pl reported.
Gulczyński spent 85 days inside the Big Brother house during the show’s first season in 2001, ultimately securing a sixth-place finish. Despite the enduring public recognition that followed, the former contestant revealed that his financial compensation from the production amounted to minimal earnings, noting that he chose not to pursue legal action over the modest payout.
Health Risks Inside the Big Brother House
Reflecting on the realities of early reality television production, Gulczyński detailed severe health complications he experienced during his time on set. In an interview with Jastrząb Post, he stated that participants remained isolated from the outside world for three months without access to medical professionals.
Przez trzy miesiące nie widzieliśmy żadnego człowieka, nie było lekarza. Prawie tam umarłem, miałem 40 stopni przez trzy dni.
Despite these behind-the-scenes hazards, Gulczyński maintained that the footage broadcast to viewers accurately reflected the events occurring within the house. He also discussed the extensive casting process that preceded the show, noting the large volume of applicants who vied for a spot in the compound.
Public Resurgence After Two Decades
The passage of two and a half decades has brought renewed attention to the former reality star. Recent media coverage highlights both his reflections on the landmark 2001 broadcast and his current life operating a hair salon with his wife, marking a distinct shift from the peak of early-2000s television fame.
