PinkPantheress Made Hit ‘Tonight’ Entirely on MacBook Keyboard

March 23, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

PinkPantheress, the British singer-songwriter and producer, revealed she created the hit song “Tonight” using only her MacBook keyboard. The 24-year-old detailed her production process in a recent TikTok post, demonstrating how she utilized Logic Pro’s Musical Typing function to input chords and build the track, which appeared on her 2023 mixtape, ‘Fancy That.’

In the TikTok video, PinkPantheress explained her method, stating, “Everyone’s been so cute about my production, so I’m going to show you how I made my song ‘Tonight’ off of ‘Fancy That.’” She then showcased the process of manually entering chords via the keyboard, adding, “MIDI controllers can be expensive! Inputting them into whatever software use works just as well.”

The revelation comes shortly after PinkPantheress was awarded Producer of the Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards, becoming both the youngest ever and the first woman to receive the honor. The BBC reported on the win, noting her surprise at being the first female recipient of the award, stating, “I guess it’s bittersweet that I’m the first one, the first woman, to get it… As young as I am, it feels almost a bit crazy.”

“Tonight” samples “Do You Know What I’m Seeing?” by Panic! At The Disco, a fact PinkPantheress acknowledged in her TikTok post, expressing gratitude for the band’s influence. “Their work not only touches lives but also motivates many to pursue their dreams in the music industry,” she wrote.

PinkPantheress’s innovative production techniques and self-taught skills have garnered significant attention. She transitioned from using GarageBand to Logic Pro as her production needs evolved. The Independent highlighted that her mixtape ‘Fancy That’ included the viral hit ‘Illegal,’ which was named NME’s song of the year, praised for its “adrenaline-fuelled thrillride” and blend of “winking storytelling smarts, artful sampling, cheeky culture-defining quips and dance floor-filling beats.”

The Producer of the Year award recognizes PinkPantheress’s work in 2025, which also included the release of the remix album ‘Fancy Some More?’ and two Grammy Award nominations. Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee, praised PinkPantheress as “both an inventive and instinctive voice in British pop right now,” adding that she is “quietly reshaping what modern pop can be, and in doing so, opening the door for a new wave of female producers to step forward.”

PinkPantheress is currently preparing for a UK and European tour, ‘An Evening With…’, scheduled for May and June.
