Pía Shaw reports Felipe Pettinato hospitalized for mental health
Hospitalization Details Emerge
“The hospitalization has to do with his mental health, something that he has been working on personally and surrounded by his family,” journalist Pía Shaw reported on América TV’s program Sálvese Quien Pueda.
Felipe Pettinato was hospitalized in recent hours in a public hospital due to complications related to his mental health. Panelists on the program questioned whether the emergency episode was tied to substance use, given past history and mandated court treatments. Shaw avoided drawing a direct link, noting instead that the care corresponds to ongoing challenges over recent years while maintaining strict family hermetism regarding the specific facility and his current status.
Pettinato Received Suspended Sentences for Culpable Fire and Sexual Abuse
The medical emergency arrives against the backdrop of a concluded criminal case involving a May 16, 2022, apartment fire that resulted in the death of his friend and neurologist, Melchor Rodrigo. On April 20, 2026, the Oral Criminal and Correctional Tribunal No. 14 sentenced Pettinato to three years of suspended prison for the crime of culpable fire followed by death.
That sentence was subsequently unified with a previous nine-month suspended sentence for simple sexual abuse handed down in April 2024 concerning an incident from 2018. The combined conditions require Pettinato to maintain a fixed address, remain under judicial supervision, and continue a court-ordered drug detoxification and rehabilitation program to avoid serving time in effective prison.
