Philips Series 9000: The Best Beard Trimmer for a Polished Look | GQ Review

Philips unveiled its Series 9000 Prestige beard trimmer, positioning it as a premium offering for facial hair maintenance. The device, described as a “serious bit of kit,” aims to provide precision and ease of use, though at a significant price point.

The Series 9000 Prestige distinguishes itself with SteelPrecision Technology, integrating a metal comb and strong cutter designed to maintain consistent trimming results regardless of applied pressure, according to Philips. This addresses a common issue with plastic combs, which can bend and lead to uneven cuts.

GQ editors, after testing the trimmer for several weeks, found it unlikely they would switch to another model. The publication highlighted the device’s powerful motor, useful attachments, and precise blades as key features. The trimmer boasts 30 length settings, ranging from 1/64″ to 25/64″.

The design of the Series 9000 Prestige features a weighty steel chassis intended to convey quality and durability. Philips has removed a previous model’s laser guidance system, opting instead for a focus on core trimming performance. The trimmer includes a leather carrying case, though the charger is not included.

The Philips Norelco Series 9000 Prestige offers a two-hour battery life and fully charges in one hour. It also features a waterproof design and comes with a two-year warranty. The device includes a battery indicator with three levels.

Shaving Advisor noted the trimmer’s solid build quality, comfortable grip, and lockable power switch to prevent accidental activation. However, the publication also pointed out that the circular grip design can craft it tough to accurately align the cutting edge and that the settings wheel is sensitive, potentially shifting during use.

The Series 9000 Prestige is currently available at Walmart for $120.
