Rains to continue Across Philippines as Two Low Pressure Areas Monitored
MANILA – Rains are forecast to persist over several parts of the philippines on Sunday, August 31, 2025, as state weather bureau PAGASA monitors two low pressure areas (LPAs) within the Philippine Area of Duty (PAR). The continued rainfall is attributed to both the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” and the influence of the two LPAs.
According to PAGASA, LPA 08h was last located 90 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte, while LPA 08i was spotted 900 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. Both systems are currently “unlikely” to develop into tropical depressions within the next 24 hours.
The trough of LPA 08h is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region,Eastern Visayas, and Quezon province. PAGASA has warned of potential flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will continue to affect Metro Manila,MIMAROPA,CALABARZON,the rest of Visayas,Zamboanga Peninsula,Northern Mindanao, and Caraga. The remainder of luzon and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA advises the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions, and to closely monitor further weather updates.
