Ole Miss standout Suntarine Perkins also garners significant attention. Ohio State’s Styles and Georgia’s Allen Feature Prominently
Ohio State’s Sonny Styles, a former safety converted to outside linebacker, is a critical component of the Buckeyes’ defense. In 39 career games, he has amassed 162 tackles, 17 for a loss, and 8 sacks, along with six passes defended and two forced fumbles.
Georgia’s CJ Allen is recognized for his exceptional raw talent. Aiming to contribute to Georgia’s championship aspirations, Allen has registered 117 tackles, six for a loss, and a single sack in 28 games. He also boasts an interception and six passes defended, indicating his potential impact at the professional level.
Emerging Stars Round Out Top Selections
BYU’s Isaiah Glasker emerged as a top Big 12 performer in 2024. Across 21 career appearances, predominantly in his breakout 2024 season, Glasker logged 73 tackles, 15 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks, alongside three interceptions.
Tennessee’s Joshua Josephs has been instrumental in the Volunteers’ defensive resurgence. In 37 games, he has accumulated 71 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and 5.5 sacks, complemented by six passes defended and three forced fumbles.

Illinois’ Gabe Jacas returns as a seasoned veteran in the Big Ten. Over 38 games, he has posted 140 tackles, 22 for a loss, and 16 sacks, showcasing his consistent production and leadership for the Fighting Illini.

Oklahoma’s Kip Lewis is expected to be a key player for the Sooners’ defense in their second SEC season. In 31 games, Lewis has recorded 133 tackles, nine for a loss, and a sack, with two interception return touchdowns.
Trey Moore, a transfer from UTSA to Texas, is the only player in Steele’s Top 10 who changed schools. Moore has an impressive collegiate resume with 140 tackles, 46 for a loss, and 27.5 sacks in 45 games.
Clemson’s Wade Woodaz brings significant experience to the Tigers’ defense. In 39 career games, he has amassed 131 tackles, 22 for a loss, and 8.5 sacks, demonstrating his impact with three interceptions and eight passes defended.
