He suffers from Type 2 diabetes and complications stemming from a spinal injury. According to the Daily Mail, Collins has undergone five knee surgeries and requires round-the-clock care.

In 2022, Collins announced the end of his drumming career, citing his physical limitations. That same year, Genesis completed its farewell tour. The new video offers a surprising glimpse of the musician revisiting his signature instrument.
