Peter Kay Announces Final Tour Dates, Donates All Profits to Cancer Charities
London, UK - Comedian Peter Kay revealed the final dates for his upcoming tour during an appearance on BBC’s The One Show tonight, announcing that all profits from the shows will be donated to 12 cancer charities. The tour, slated to begin March 8th, marks the culmination of Kay’s return to live performance after a three-year hiatus.
Kay confirmed the tour will conclude next year and emphasized the deeply personal motivation behind donating all proceeds. “It’s finishing next year, and I am announcing the last lot of shows but all profits are going to cancer charities,” he stated. “They’re all 12 cancer charities which are, Children with cancer, UK Teenage cancer trust, kidney Cancer UK, Blood cancer UK, Bowel cancer UK, Prostate UK.”
The full list of beneficiary charities includes DKMS, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, the brain tumour charity, and Breast Cancer UK. Kay acknowledged the widespread impact of cancer, stating, “Unluckily, everybody knows someone who’s been affected on that list, and I just hope people support it. Come to the shows, that’s why I’m here. You don’t even have to like me, it goes beyond that. This is about supporting those charities.”
In a characteristic moment of self-deprecating humor, Kay added, “If it’s not funny, you get your money back… You don’t. I hope you’ll come and do it. It’s 12 cancer charities.”
Tickets for the final shows go on sale this Sunday, November 30th.
The One Show airs on weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
