Perry Farrell Makes Musical Return wiht Carl Cox Collaboration, “Joya“
Perry Farrell, frontman of Jane’s Addiction, has emerged with a new musical contribution, appearing on electronic artist Carl Cox’s recently released track, “Joya.” The collaboration marks Farrell’s first publicly released work since Jane’s Addiction abruptly halted touring plans last year following a health incident.
The song’s release signals a potential return to music for Farrell, who has maintained a low profile since the band’s tour cancellation. While Jane’s Addiction members have continued making music together without him, “Joya” represents Farrell’s direct re-entry into the creative landscape. Cox shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “When the opportunity came to work with Perry, I jumped at it and sent him the idea for Joya! It just came together so beautifully, and I have been proud to play it as the closer for all of my sets in the last year. people respond to it with such joy, and that is what I was aiming for all along! Joya!” Farrell himself added, “It means the world to me that we’re making people so happy with our music..Joyaaaaaah!”
The collaboration arrives amid a period of personal reflection for Farrell. Following the Jane’s Addiction tour pause, his wife, Etty Liu, announced the couple would be “taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” with Farrell scheduling appointments with medical specialists. Beyond “Joya,” Farrell is also slated to join guitarist Robby Krieger at a 60th-anniversary concert celebrating The Doors later this month, further indicating a renewed focus on musical projects.
