Perplexity AI Launches Health-Focused AI Service in the US
Perplexity AI has launched Perplexity Health, a new feature integrating personal health data from Apple Health, wearable devices, and electronic health records, initially available to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States.
The new tool, unveiled Thursday, aims to provide users with personalized insights into their health by connecting to data sources including Apple Health, Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings, according to a company statement. It also accesses electronic health records from over 1.7 million healthcare providers through a partnership with b.well Connected Health, a HIPAA-compliant platform.
Perplexity Health operates within the company’s “Perplexity Computer” platform, an AI agent system designed for autonomous tasks. This integration allows the tool to generate personalized dashboards, track biomarkers, and respond to user queries about health metrics, although explicitly avoiding medical diagnosis or advice, the company stated.
The launch positions Perplexity as a competitor to other AI-powered health platforms, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health, which debuted in January 2026, and Microsoft’s Copilot Health, launched earlier this month on March 12. According to Perplexity, the system draws from premium medical literature, clinical guidelines, and peer-reviewed journals to formulate responses, with all answers including citations to source material.
The b.well partnership is a key component of the infrastructure, providing access to a network connecting to more than 2.4 million providers and over 350 health plans and labs across the US. Integrations with ŌURA and Function are planned for the near future.
Perplexity emphasizes that the tool is “not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or other medical condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.” The company advises users to consult with a physician before utilizing the service.
