Pep Guardiola expresses support for Manchester City after financial charges
Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed public support for the club, stating that he stands behind the team and its owners after the Premier League found the club culpable for the majority of financial irregularities brought against them in February 2023.
Guardiola Issues Public Message of Support
Following the announcement by the Premier League on Tuesday regarding the conclusion of major financial charges, Guardiola released a statement via X on Wednesday. The Spanish coach emphasized his loyalty to the organization, management, players, and supporters.
“I want that every fan of the Manchester City know that I am here; more than ever. Always have been, am and always will be, behind my club, my owner, my president, Ferrán, the players, the personal, Enzo and you, our extraordinary fans. Let me be clear: we will overcome this together. I love you all,” Guardiola stated in his social media post.
Alongside the message, Guardiola shared multiple photographs featuring the club’s executive leadership, wearing the sky-blue team shirt, and posing with the 2023 UEFA Champions League trophy.
The Scope of the Premier League Charges
The disciplinary case against Manchester City centers on 115 alleged financial breaches covering nine seasons, spanning from the 2008-2009 campaign through the 2017-2018 period.
Guardiola took over as manager of Manchester City in July 2016. His tenure at the club concluded at the end of last season, during which time he secured approximately twenty trophies for the English side before stepping down.
