PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team begins its quest for the ECAC Indoor Championship title Friday, facing Harvard University in Princeton, Latest Jersey. The tournament, running through Sunday, includes all eight Ivy League teams.
The Quakers enter the competition with a 5-1 overall record, bolstered by a pair of 4-0 victories last Friday against Delaware and Saint Joseph’s University. Penn’s recent success aims to translate into strong performance against its Ivy League rivals.
During their recent sweep of Delaware, Penn’s fourth-ranked doubles team of Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler defeated the Blue Hens’ Toby Lock and Euan Mackenzie, ranked 77th nationally, by a score of 6-4. This victory highlights the strength of Penn’s doubles play as they head into the championship.
In singles competition against Delaware, Penn secured wins from Luka Butera, Justin Chung and Mathew Rutter in the three completed matches. The Quakers continued their dominance in singles play against Saint Joseph’s, with Rutter, Adam Bain, and Vojtech Vales each earning victories.
The match against Harvard is scheduled for 3 p.m. On Friday. The tournament bracket indicates potential matchups against other Ivy League teams throughout the weekend, depending on the outcomes of the initial rounds.
