Penn Fencing: Heathcock & Lioznyansky Lead at 2026 NCAA Championships – Day 1
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s fencing team concluded the first day of competition at the 2026 NCAA Fencing Championships on Saturday at Notre Dame, with several Quakers positioning themselves for contention in Sunday’s finals.
Antonio Heathcock, competing in saber, and Simon Lioznyansky, in epee, led Penn’s efforts, each securing a fifth-place standing after the initial round of bouts. Jaesun Yun followed closely behind in saber, finishing the day in 13th place. Conrad Lo in foil achieved 15th place, although Joseph Wu rounded out the top-20 finishers for the Quakers, taking 19th in epee.
Heathcock’s performance builds on a strong season for the saberist, who was named Second Team All-America in 2025, after winning seven bouts at the NCAA championships that year, according to reporting from The Daily Pennsylvanian. He also earned a medal at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional on March 7, 2026, alongside teammate Victoria Kuznetsov.
The Quakers will resume competition on Sunday, March 22, with the championship concluding on Notre Dame’s campus, beginning at 9 a.m.
