‘Peep Show’ Stars to Trade Super Hans’ Flat for the ‘Great British Bake Off‘ Tent in Christmas Special
David mitchell and Robert Webb, the comedic duo celebrated for their groundbreaking Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show, will reunite for a special Christmas edition of the great British Bake Off. The unexpected pairing marks the first time the pair have appeared on screen together since the conclusion of Peep Show in 2015.
The festive episode, set to air on Christmas Day, will see Mitchell and Webb step away from their characters Mark Corrigan and Jeremy Usborne to compete in the iconic baking tent. This reunion arrives after years of discussion regarding a potential Peep show revival, with Webb previously suggesting a return could happen when he and Mitchell reach their seventies. While a full-scale reboot remains unconfirmed, this Bake Off appearance offers fans a much-anticipated glimpse of the duo’s signature chemistry.
In a 2023 interview with NME, Webb floated the idea of revisiting Mark and Jeremy as elderly flatmates, continuing their familiar squabbles. Mitchell, however, expressed reservations about simply extending the original series, stating any future project should be “a totally separate thing” to avoid diminishing the legacy of Peep Show.
Since Peep Show, Mitchell and Webb have collaborated on the sketch comedy series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, alongside Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Lara Ricote, stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans. The Bake Off christmas special provides a new platform for their comedic talents, promising a unique and perhaps chaotic take on the beloved baking competition.
