Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver to Star in ”The Mandalorian and Grogu” Film
A new “Star Wars” film centering on Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, and his ward Grogu is slated for release on May 22, 2026. Announced in January 2024,the film will continue the story established in the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” bringing the characters to the big screen.
The cast includes Sigourney Weaver as a fighter pilot and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta, the son of Jabba the Hutt, alongside Jonny Coyne portraying an Imperial warlord. A recently released trailer showcases Mando and Grogu encountering these new characters while battling robots and creatures, including a Rancor-like monster in Rotta’s arena and an AT-AT. The film’s logline reveals the New Republic has enlisted the Mandalorian to help protect the galaxy from remaining Imperial forces.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Jon Favreau, who is producing the film with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni.”The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“The Mandalorian” series, set after the events of “Star Wars: return of the jedi,” follows a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter as he travels the galaxy, eventually forming a bond with Grogu, a Force-sensitive being of the same species as Yoda. The series has incorporated characters and elements from across the “Star Wars” canon, including cameos from babu Frik and Zeb Orrelios in the film’s trailer.
