Lithuanian singer Jolanta Naruševičiūtė has publicly accused fellow artist mantas Vygantas of copyright infringement, alleging ”theft in broad daylight” regarding musical works and rights distribution. The dispute centers on ownership of both duet recordings and individual songs, escalating a long-running conflict between the two performers.
Vygantas, who returned to Lithuania in October 2023 after a period abroad, recently addressed the situation in an interview with People.lt, asserting his right to distribute his music independently. He maintains he and Naruševičiūtė jointly hold the rights to their collaborative pieces and each artist’s solo work. vygantas stated, “I will only say that we have both rights to author’s duet and solo songs.” He further explained he operates a personal YouTube channel dedicated to his individual compositions and believes artists should have the freedom to share their work through individual accounts on various platforms.
According to Vygantas, the key is avoiding “heresies and whipped tongue” and focusing on moving forward. He expressed weariness with the ongoing public disagreement, stating, “Both my family, relatives and society are already tired of this soap opera.” He emphasized his contentment with life in Lithuania and desire for peace, adding, “You only want peace of all these stories, to live this day and the plans for the future. But, as I see, some do not go out.”
