Bobcats’ Raike Earns MAC West Wrestler of the Week, Track &⁢ Field Team Opens Season

Ohio University wrestler‍ Graham Raike ‌was named the MAC West Wrestler of‍ the Week ⁣following a‌ dominant performance at the 157 lb. bracket, while the Ohio track and field⁣ team prepares ​to kick off its 2025-26 season this Friday. Raike’s wrestling success highlights the program’s early-season strength,‌ and the track and field team’s appearance at the GVSU Holiday Open‍ marks‍ the beginning of thier ​competitive schedule, aiming to build on last‌ year’s‌ eighth-place finish at the MAC Outdoor⁣ Championships.

Raike began his day with a first-period forfeit against UT-Chattanooga’s alex Hutchcraft. He continued his winning⁣ streak with a 9-3 decision over NC State’s Latrell⁣ Shaffer, securing two ​takedowns, and followed it ⁤up with ‍an 11-5 decision victory against Appalachian ⁣State’s ‍Kai O’Dell, recording three ‍takedowns. Raike capped off‌ his‍ impressive run with ​a ‍major decision win (17-6) over Appalachian State’s Jeremiah ⁤Price in the championship match, notching five takedowns.

The ⁤Ohio track and‍ field team will compete‌ at the GVSU Holiday ‍Open in Allendale, Mich., on December 5th at 12 p.m. ET. The⁣ event will be streamed on FloTrack, with live results available on FSTiming. Last season,‌ Ellie Greenwell ‌placed ​fourth in the ​800m (2:11.11),while ‍Allie ⁢Martin (9:43.35, 5th in 3000m; 16:43.11, 3rd in⁤ 5000m) and Leila Boussedra (9:44.58,‌ 7th ⁢in 3000m) earned ⁣podium‌ finishes.Kelsi Harris (9:48.00, ⁣9th in 3000m) and Alyssa Mason (9:57.32, 12th ‍in 3000m)​ also competed⁣ in the 3000m ​event.
