PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio university Athletics is set for a busy weekend, hosting field ‌hockey contests, a swim and dive scrimmage, and softball games, ‍all at Pruitt Field, the ⁣Aquatic Centre, ​and the Ohio Softball ⁢Field, ⁣respectively.

This weekend’s schedule features ‍the ​Ohio field hockey team ⁤(2-8, 1-2 MAC) welcoming Bellarmine (1-8,‌ 1-2 MAC) on Friday, Oct. 3, ⁣at 1⁤ p.m.ET, followed ⁢by a Sunday, Oct. ​5, matchup against Queens (1-7) ‍at​ the same time. Both field hockey games will be⁤ streamed on ESPN+. Sunday’s game will also include a Senior⁣ Day ceremony honoring the ⁣Bobcats’ graduating players. ‌Bellarmine​ and⁣ Queens ⁣will also face off in a neutral site ⁢game at Pruitt Field on Saturday, ​Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.ET, but​ that game will not be streamed. ⁤

The Ohio swim and dive team will hold its annual Green​ and White⁤ scrimmage ‌on ⁢Saturday,Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. ET at the Ohio University Aquatic center. The event is free and open⁣ to the public, serving as​ the team’s final tune-up before the​ regular season begins on Oct. 24-25‍ wiht a⁢ tri-meet against Marshall and Buffalo.

The Ohio softball team will host Marshall in ‌a doubleheader ‌on ​Sunday, Oct.5, with ​games scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m. ET at the Ohio Softball Field. Admission to the softball games is also free.

Recently, the Ohio field hockey team defeated 11th-ranked UMass 1-0, ⁤with senior Anouk Plaehn‌ scoring the winning goal and⁢ sophomore Ash Stephenson recording her‍ first career shutout with​ three saves. Senior Sasha Tyets contributed a goal ⁤and an assist in a ​subsequent overtime loss to Central Michigan.
