ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio university Athletics is set for a busy weekend, hosting field hockey contests, a swim and dive scrimmage, and softball games, all at Pruitt Field, the Aquatic Centre, and the Ohio Softball Field, respectively.
This weekend’s schedule features the Ohio field hockey team (2-8, 1-2 MAC) welcoming Bellarmine (1-8, 1-2 MAC) on Friday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m.ET, followed by a Sunday, Oct. 5, matchup against Queens (1-7) at the same time. Both field hockey games will be streamed on ESPN+. Sunday’s game will also include a Senior Day ceremony honoring the Bobcats’ graduating players. Bellarmine and Queens will also face off in a neutral site game at Pruitt Field on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.ET, but that game will not be streamed.
The Ohio swim and dive team will hold its annual Green and White scrimmage on Saturday,Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. ET at the Ohio University Aquatic center. The event is free and open to the public, serving as the team’s final tune-up before the regular season begins on Oct. 24-25 wiht a tri-meet against Marshall and Buffalo.
The Ohio softball team will host Marshall in a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct.5, with games scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m. ET at the Ohio Softball Field. Admission to the softball games is also free.
Recently, the Ohio field hockey team defeated 11th-ranked UMass 1-0, with senior Anouk Plaehn scoring the winning goal and sophomore Ash Stephenson recording her first career shutout with three saves. Senior Sasha Tyets contributed a goal and an assist in a subsequent overtime loss to Central Michigan.
