Patagonia Women’s U19 Hockey Championship Begins in Santa Rosa
Sixteen women’s under-19 field hockey teams from across Patagonia will gather in Santa Rosa this week for the regional club championships, eldiariodelapampa.com.ar reported. Santa Rosa will host the Women’s Under-19 Regional Club Championships A and B of Patagonia from this Thursday until Sunday.
The Argentine Hockey Confederation and the Pampeana Hockey Association organized the event, splitting the competition into Category A and Category B draws. La Barranca and Estudiantes de Santa Rosa provided the host venues, operating as pitch one and pitch two respectively. Each category features eight squads divided evenly into two four-team groups for the initial round-robin phase.
Thursday Matches Begin with Simultaneous Fixtures
Play opens Thursday at 9 a.m. with simultaneous matches as Bigornia meets Club Náutico y Deportivo Rada Tilly at La Barranca, while Estudiantes de Santa Rosa faces Santa Rosa Rugby on the home turf of Estudiantes. Pico Football Club debuts in Category B against Club Atlético Integración Deportiva at 10:40 a.m., matching the start time of the Hockey San Jorge versus Sportivo Independiente fixture. In Category A, La Barranca plays its opening match at 12:20 p.m. against Calafate. Following that match at 14:00, Roca Rugby will face Neuquén Rugby, and Puerto Madryn Rugby Club will play Marabunta Rugby Club A. The opening day will finish with four more afternoon matches, including the second appearance of the local Pampeana representatives: Estudiantes will play Bigornia at 17:20, and Pico Football Club will face Sportivo Independiente at the same time. Sunday morning brings the final playoff rounds starting at 9:00, with both championship matches scheduled for 4:20 p.m. Technical meetings and official delegations accreditation take place Wednesday, October 28, at the Medasur building on Belgrano Sur Avenue, with delegation accreditation starting at 18:00 and the technical meeting and official opening with local directors taking place at 19:00.
