Parx Casino in Shippensburg Seeks Approval for Live Table Games, Would Be First in PA to Offer them
SHIPPENSBURG, PA – Parx Casino Shippensburg has petitioned the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to add twelve live table games to its gaming floor, a move that would make it the first casino in the state to offer traditional table games. Currently, Parx Shippensburg is the only casino in Pennsylvania without them.
The petition, filed with the board, requests a waiver of the requirement for a separate chip bank to support table game operations. The casino’s 31,200-square-foot gaming floor and 495 slot machines would remain unchanged, and the casino will continue to maintain a smoke-free gaming floor.
“Parx respectfully submits the within Petition should be granted as Parx has demonstrated that there are sound business reasons for the proposed modifications to its gaming floor – namely, the removal of underperforming gaming units and placement of twelve (12) live table games which Parx anticipates will improve the casino’s performance,” the company stated in the petition.
The casino is already actively hiring dealers for the new table games, announcing on its website, “parx Shippensburg is finally bringing live table games to our location!”
Douglas Harbach, director of communications for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, confirmed that Parx Shippensburg is currently the only casino in the state lacking traditional table games.
The petition is expected to be on the gaming control board’s agenda in December or January, though that timeline is subject to change, according to Harbach.
Parx Shippensburg, Pennsylvania’s newest casino, is located at 250 South Conestoga Drive, in a former Lowe’s store. It currently offers electronic table games, slot machines, sports wagering kiosks, an entertainment venue, and dining options.
