Park Soo-hong Reflects on “Our Baby Has Been Born Again” and the Possibility of a Second Child
Ten months after the birth of his daughter, Jaei, comedian Park Soo-hong is opening up about his experience with parenthood and his involvement in the TV Chosun program, “Our Baby Has Been Born Again.” The show, which broadcasts live childbirths, has given him a unique viewpoint on the realities of bringing new life into the world – and even prompted a conversation about expanding his family.
Park Soo-hong described the unpredictable nature of filming the show, noting that while C-sections are scheduled, natural births require constant readiness. “I’m always on standby, ready to rush out at a moment’s notice,” he explained. “There were times I was heading home thinking the baby wouldn’t come, only to turn the car around and rush back.” He emphasized the importance of keeping his phone close to respond instantly to any call.
“Our Baby Has Been Born Again” follows the journeys of mothers and families in diverse situations. park Soo-hong expressed particular excitement about witnessing families with multiple children. “The most nerve-wracking yet rewarding moments are when the babies are born and I check if they’re breathing well,” he said, recalling his experiences being present for the births of triplets and quadruplets.
The show’s intimate portrayal of childbirth has also prompted personal reflection for Park Soo-hong. he recalled his wife’s difficult experience after Jaei’s birth, specifically her distress at being unable to immediately feed their baby colostrum. Due to her health, he hadn’t previously considered having another child. However,he revealed,”Recently she brought up the idea.”
The couple has a frozen embryo, leaving the future uncertain. Park Soo-hong stressed that his wife’s well-being remains his primary concern.”Right now,my main concern is my wife’s well-being,so I’m not sure if we’ll have a second child. But you never know what might happen if we keep thinking it through and living our best. For now, I’m focused on my wife’s health.”
Describing the program, Park Soo-hong offered three phrases: “there’s no need to be afraid,” “A program that delivers the reality of childbirth as it is,” and “We were all born this way.” He believes it’s “the most vivid and lively program in Korean TV history” and is confident it will provide valuable, realistic information for expectant parents.
Ultimately, Park Soo-hong hopes viewers will take away a deeper understanding of the joys and challenges of parenthood. He believes the show combines entertainment, education, emotion, and information, fostering thankfulness for family, the value of children, and the importance of preparation for parenthood. He also highlighted the program’s potential to raise awareness about Korea’s low birth rate and support policies for parents.
