paris to Conduct Tiger Mosquito Repellent Operation in 11th Arrondissement Tonight: Here’s What Residents Need to Know
Paris authorities are preparing a targeted mosquito control operation in the Roquette-Folie-Régnault district of the 11th arrondissement tonight, Wednesday, September 10th to Thursday, September 11th, between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM. The action is a preventative measure following the identification of cases of diseases possibly carried by the Aedes albopictus mosquito, commonly known as the tiger mosquito.The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Île-de-France has confirmed ”identified cases” of diseases in the area, though the specific pathology and number of individuals affected have not been disclosed. The city of Paris emphasizes the necessity of a “demoustication operation” to “prevent the local transmission” of the disease.
The operation will focus on a 150-meter radius encompassing the following streets and areas:
Rue de la Folie-Regnault
Passage de la Folie-Regnault
Rue Merlin
impasse Daunay
Rue de la Roquette (between rue de la Croix-Faubin and Boulevard de Ménilmontant)
Rue Gerbier
Boulevard de Ménilmontant (between Passage de la Folie-Regnault and Rue de la Roquette)
Square Rajman

the ARS states that the Regional Demoustication Agency (ARD) will utilize products “based on a Pyrethroid or natural Pyrethrines,commonly present in domestic products and duly approved for this application.”
Residents are advised to take the following precautions:
Before the Operation (Wednesday Evening): Bring indoors all children’s toys, outdoor objects, clothing, and pet food bowls. Cover swimming pools, sandboxes, and water basins.
during the Operation (2:00 AM – 5:00 AM): Remain indoors, keep windows closed for at least one hour after the operation concludes, and avoid approaching the spraying equipment.
After the Operation: Wait three days before consuming fruits and vegetables grown in the affected area, ensuring thay are thoroughly washed beforehand. Garden furniture and children’s play equipment should be rinsed with water. Indoor activities are recommended for children the day following the treatment.
The ARS notes that the products used may cause “transient, skin or respiratory discomfort or irritation, especially in sensitive or allergic people, without gravity.” Anyone experiencing concerns can contact the Paris anti-poison center at 01.40.05.48.48.
