Paris Pastry Class & Wine Pairing at Hôtel de la Marine
The Hôtel de la Marine in Paris will host a series of unusual evening events, including period balls and guided visits, throughout 2026. A “Roaring Twenties” themed ball is scheduled for March 27th, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, while a cooking demonstration paired with a visit will take place on March 28th, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:15 PM.
Originally known as the Hôtel du Garde-Meuble, the building on Place de la Concorde was designed by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel and constructed between 1757 and 1774. It initially served as the home of the royal Garde-Meuble, responsible for managing furnishings for all royal residences. Following the French Revolution, it became the Ministry of the Navy, a function it held until 2015, and is now part of the Ministry of Defence.
Following a comprehensive renovation completed in 2021, the Hôtel de la Marine now showcases the restored 18th-century apartments of Marc-Antoine Thierry de Ville-d’Avray, the King’s Intendant of the Garde-Meuble, alongside salons and chambers previously used by the French Navy. A dedicated space also exhibits the Al Thani Collection, featuring international and intercultural artworks assembled by Sheik Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani.
The Hôtel de la Marine also offers “Nocturnes insolites,” or unusual evenings, on Fridays, with the next event scheduled for April 10th, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM. Admission to the Hôtel de la Marine starts at €13, with free entry for EU residents under the age of 26. The building is managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux (CMN).
