Parachute Lost After Emergency Landing on Arcachon Beach
Arcachon, France – A local parachute videographer is appealing for teh publicS help after his main parachute went missing following an emergency landing on the beach at Arcachon on Sunday, October 5th. Arthur Dimet, 25, a seasonal employee with Vertical T’Air and experienced with 700 jumps, landed safely after experiencing a malfunction during a routine filming jump.
Dimet was filming a tandem jump over the Bassin d’arcachon, departing from the Villemarie aerodrome in La Teste-de-Buch. While in freefall at approximately 800 meters, and separated from the tandem pair for filming, his main parachute deployed incorrectly, causing him to spin.
“My main sail deployed very badly, I don’t really know how that could have happened, surely I must have folded it badly,” Dimet explained. Unable to correct the issue, he deployed his emergency parachute and landed safely between the Thiers and Eyrac piers.
Though, his primary concern quickly shifted to locating his main parachute – sail, lines, pod, and extractor – which had become detached during the incident.Witnesses reported seeing a large black mass land near the Olympia performance hall in the city center shortly before Dimet arrived on the scene. By the time he reached the location, the parachute had already been taken.
“During my fall, I clearly saw where the parachute wandered,” Dimet said. he has as been actively searching for the equipment, contacting local businesses, the town hall, and utilizing social media, but has had no success.
Dimet emphasizes the specialized nature of the equipment and its importance to his livelihood. “For the uninitiated, having a sail is absolutely useless. Even if the person tries to sell it on the Internet, I will still find out, these things don’t come around every four mornings,” he stated. “Its with my equipment that I make my living. I try to get out of it as best I can, the person who took it from me has to realize it.”
Anyone with data regarding the whereabouts of the parachute is urged to contact Arthur Dimet at 07 63 49 72 71.
