PAN Reviews Mahkamah Konstitusi Ruling on Gibran Education
Partai Amanat Nasional confirming it is reviewing the Mahkamah Konstitusi’s decision regarding Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s educational credentials, while critics prepare legislative challenges.
PAN Studies the Ruling as Critics Plan Legislative Audiences
Partai Amanat Nasional stated it is carefully examining the Mahkamah Konstitusi decision regarding the lawsuit over Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s educational requirements. PAN akan mengkaji putusan MK dengan baik,
said PAN Deputy Chairman Viva Yoga on Monday, October 12, 2026, adding that the party wants to prioritize the nation and state rather than power interests.
This review follows a petition led by Denny Indrayana and other plaintiffs, whose initial lawsuit regarding Gibran’s presidential election registration was not accepted by the court. Rather than halting their campaign, the legal team announced plans to seek audiences with the People’s Representative Council, the Regional Representative Council, and the People’s Consultative Assembly. Denny Indrayana stated that letters are currently being drafted to request formal meetings with legislative factions.
Refly Harun, acting as legal counsel for the petitioners, emphasized that the legislature serves as the constitutionally mandated starting point for any impeachment process. According to Refly, the DPR holds the exclusive authority to initiate impeachment proceedings before any matter moves to the MPR.

KPU Solo Verified Gibran Rakabuming Raka Diploma Locally
Yustinus Arya Artheswara, Chairman of KPU Solo, explained that the commission verified submitted documents locally through the Bakorwil VII office in Solo, adhering to the requirements outlined in the Election Law. KPU Solo confirmed that the verification of Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s diploma for the 2020 regional election was not carried out all the way to Singapore.
The analysis highlighted that minimum education requirements verified through legalized photocopies often create systemic vulnerabilities for electoral integrity across Indonesia, pointing out that laws such as Law Number 7 of 2017 on Elections and Law Number 10 of 2016 on Regional Elections mandate a minimum educational attainment of senior high school or equivalent.

Public Appeals for Democratic Restraint and Political Introspektion
Adding a broader civic perspective, Muhammadiyah Chairman Haedar Nashir urged national elites and the public to exercise restraint, maintain democratic maturity, and respect legal channels during a public address in Sidoarjo on October 10, 2026. Haedar emphasized that parties dissatisfied with judicial outcomes should utilize remaining legal mechanisms rather than stoking prolonged conflict, while simultaneously warning victors against triumphalism. Bagi yang tidak puas, ya silakan tempuh proses hukum yang masih terbuka,
Haedar stated.
Contrasting sharply with calls for institutional patience, Taufik Bilfaqih, Chairman of Gibranisti, publicly challenged statements made by Partai Ummat Majelis Syura member Amien Rais.
DPR Factions Determine Timeline for Impeachment Petitions
With legal scholars knocking on parliamentary doors and political parties staking out conflicting positions, the timeline for any formal legislative action remains entirely dependent on how DPR factions choose to respond to the petitioners’ upcoming formal requests for audience. No official date has been set by legislative leaders to address the impeachment petitions, leaving the political fallout from the Mahkamah Konstitusi ruling hanging in an uneasy legislative balance.
