To claim that Palworld is off to a good start seems to be a bit of an understatement. According to the official X account for the game, it has “sold over 1 million copies in about 8 hours since launch” yesterday.
The result is so staggering that we suspect it may be an error on the part of Japanese studio Pocketpair, as they may have included copies downloaded by Game Pass subscribers in this figure. Hopefully we’ll get some clarification soon, but even with Game Pass copies downloaded it’ll still be a pretty crazy milestone considering it’s a new IP and an Early Access/Game Preview version.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer already has Congratulations to the team on their success at Xand it will be interesting to see about Palworld – often referred to as “PokĂ©mon with Weapons” – able to keep this pace, but to judge by the user ratings on Steam, it seems that the only limit is the imagination. We are currently working on our review and will let you know what we think of the game next week.
In the meantime, check out the launch trailer below to get a feel for what this open-world survival adventure with both multiplayer and crafting gameplay has to offer budding Pal trainers trying to capture the 100+ monsters.
