PBA Men’s Soccer Shuts Out No. 6 Lynn, 2-0
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish men’s soccer team secured a decisive 2-0 victory over No. 6 Lynn University Wednesday night, bolstering their own ranking and marking a notable win in a highly anticipated matchup. The Sailfish defense proved impenetrable, while key offensive plays sealed the result.
The game remained scoreless through the first half, despite a scoring opportunity created by Tin Vastic that was thwarted by Lynn goalkeeper Luca Clavero. PBA dramatically shifted the momentum after halftime, capitalizing on increased possession and ultimately breaking the deadlock in the 54th minute.Joshua Wicks scored off a precise pass from niklas Mahler, giving the Sailfish their first lead of the night.
Lynn threatened to equalize just seven minutes later, but PBA goalkeeper Flavio Giannini delivered a crucial save against Dominik N’gatie, Lynn’s leading scorer. The Sailfish extended their advantage in the 80th minute when Marko Borovic skillfully maneuvered past a Lynn defender and fired a left-footed shot into the net, securing a 2-0 lead. Marian rutkowski nearly added another in the final moments,hitting the post with a shot.
The victory elevates PBA’s standing in the competitive landscape of NCAA Division II men’s soccer. The sailfish will next travel to Nova Southeastern to face the Sharks on wednesday,November 1st at 7 p.m.in Ft.Lauderdale.
