Paks head coach György Bognár responded to criticism from Ferencváros striker Barnabás Varga following a match earlier in October, asserting Paks has historically had the upper hand against their rivals.Varga, speaking to M4 Sport, stated, “The glass is half empty, I think we deserved to win. We didn’t see a lot of football on the field today either. But we got used to it in the matches against Paks.”
Bognár countered, stating, “They haven’t really been able to beat us in recent years either, I think we’ve been successful four times out of five, and there’s also the two cup victories, right? They don’t know what to do with us, and in their desperation they adopted this style that exists within the club. This makes us smile, and we will take it that way.”
The Paks coach also acknowledged Varga’s talent, adding, “Despite this, I consider Barnabás Varga to be an outstanding footballer, who would hold his own in any European team in this position.”
Bognár recently received a Pro urbe award from the city of Paks, which he is scheduled to receive at a commemoration on October 23rd.
