Pakistan Diplomacy: Mideast Crisis Talks with UAE, Turkey, Iran & Saudi Arabia
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held discussions with UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday, emphasizing the need for de-escalation amid heightened regional tensions. The conversation took place as diplomatic efforts intensify to address the evolving situation in the Middle East, according to a statement released by the Pakistani Foreign Office.
Dar underscored that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward,” reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, including three Pakistani nationals, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE. The UAE Foreign Minister received condolences from Dar, who stressed a shared commitment to supporting victims and their families.
The exchange of views between the two foreign ministers comes as the United States is reportedly engaging in diplomacy with both Iran and other regional actors. Pakistan has indicated its readiness to host talks between the US and Iran, acknowledging a role in de-escalation efforts, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the call, both leaders exchanged Eid greetings and agreed to maintain close contact, signaling a continued collaborative approach on regional security and cooperation. The Foreign Office noted the conversation reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to manage tensions through diplomatic channels, prioritizing the safety of citizens and bilateral relations.
The discussion between Dar and Sheikh Abdullah also occurred against a backdrop of broader regional security concerns. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan recently convened a meeting in Ankara to explore the possibility of a security pact, according to reports. Dar also engaged in talks with his counterparts from Iran, Turkey, and Iraq, urging collective efforts to de-escalate the Mideast crisis.
Pakistan’s active role in promoting stability in the Gulf region and its commitment to supporting the UAE through coordinated diplomatic efforts were highlighted by the Foreign Office. No further details regarding specific de-escalation strategies or planned meetings were immediately available.
