SEATTLE (AP) — Manny Machado hit a two-run homer to become the leading homer in Padres history, Fernando Tatis Jr. added a three-run shot and San Diego beat the Seattle Mariners 7-3 on Tuesday night. Machado hit his 164th homer with the Padres, hitting a line drive to center field off George Kirby in the sixth inning that gave San Diego a 5-2 lead. From the plate, Machado stared at the ball as it flew off the bat at nearly 109 mph. Machado’s homer was his 26th of the season and broke a tie with Nate Colbert atop the Padres home run list. In all, Machado has hit 339 home runs, with Baltimore, the Dodgers and San Diego. And while Machado’s homer set a record, Tatis’s gave San Diego the go-ahead. Kirby (11-11) was tagged with five earned runs. He has allowed 11 homers in his last seven starts. For the Padres, Venezuelan Luis Arráez was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. The Dominicans Tatis was 2-for-5 with one run scored and three RBIs, Machado was 2-for-5 with one run scored and four RBIs. Colombian Donovan Solano was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. For the Mariners, Dominicans Victor Robles was 3-for-4, Julio Rodríguez was 0-for-5, Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4. Mexico’s Randy Arozarena was 0-for-4.
