Outraged The Last of Us actress says ICE suggested she was FAKE Native American

‘The Last of us’ Actress Claims ICE Questioned Her Native American Identity During Detainment

REDMOND, WA – November 28, 2023 – Actress Stormee Weeks, known for her role in the HBO series “The Last of us” and the 2009 TV movie “Wyvern,” alleges that Immigration and customs Enforcement (ICE) agents implied she was not a legitimate member of the Native American community during a recent detention near a bus stop in Redmond, Washington. Weeks reports the agents initially refused too accept tribal identification as proof of her heritage.

The incident, which occurred on the same day ICE conducted multiple arrests at the Bear Creek Village shopping center in Redmond, has left Weeks fearful for her safety and questioning the agency’s practices. This case highlights growing concerns about ICE’s interactions with Indigenous communities and the validity of tribal identification in federal enforcement actions. It also raises questions about potential racial profiling and the impact of ICE’s actions on Native American citizens.

According to a report in The Times, Weeks was stopped by ICE agents while waiting at a bus stop. She stated that the agents did not provide their names or badge numbers throughout the encounter. Weeks further claims that her son and uncle, who were with her, were also initially subjected to scrutiny regarding their tribal IDs before ultimately being released.

“I’m afraid to leave my house now,” Weeks told The Times.

The Daily mail has contacted ICE for comment but has not yet received a response. The incident underscores ongoing tensions between law enforcement and Native American communities, notably regarding identity verification and the recognition of tribal sovereignty. ICE has faced previous criticism for its enforcement tactics and treatment of Indigenous individuals.
