Oregon & Washington Rain: Forecast Through Tuesday

The Washington Huskies football team concluded its regular season with a 26-14 loss to the No. 5 Oregon Ducks on Saturday, effectively ending their hopes for a repeat appearance in the College Football Playoff.

While Washington’s defense performed adequately, the Huskies’ offense struggled against a strong Oregon team, failing to generate consistent drives. The Ducks secured their place in the College Football Playoff with the victory, finishing the regular season with an 11-1 record. Oregon coach Dan Lanning celebrated the win with a lengthy run along the Husky Stadium sideline.

The game marked the first win for Dan Lanning against Washington, breaking a recent streak of four consecutive victories for the Huskies over their rivals. Oregon completed a 12-0 regular season with a dominant performance, recording 10 sacks against Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr., and 16 tackles for a loss.

Despite moments of promise from Williams, a true freshman making his first career start, the Huskies were unable to overcome Oregon’s physicality, and experience. Williams completed 17 of 20 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his arm talent and athleticism. A brief glimmer of hope for Washington came when cornerback Thaddeus Dixon forced a fumble from Oregon running back Noah Whittington, leading to a field goal that narrowed the score to 7-6. However, Oregon quickly responded and maintained control throughout the remainder of the game.

The Ducks outscored the Huskies in each quarter, and after an opportunity to reduce the deficit to 28-21 early in the second half, Oregon extended its lead and cruised to a 49-21 victory in a previous matchup at Autzen Stadium. The loss concludes Washington’s season, leaving fans to reflect on a campaign that ultimately fell short of playoff contention.
